Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium is located in San Antonio Texas. It is commonly referred to as Wolff Stadium and is nicknamed “The Wolff”. Wolff Stadium is a minor league baseball stadium, home to the San Antonio Missions, a Double A affiliate to the San Diego Padres. Construction began on the Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium (formerly known as San Antonio Municipal Stadium) in September 1993 and was completed by April 1994. Wolff Stadium is owned by the Elmore Sports Group. Wolff Stadium has the seating capacity of 9,200 with 6,200 coming from fixed seats and approximately 3,000 from seating on a grass berm in left field. The fixed seats consist of individual seats behind home plate and bleachers in the left and right field seating areas. The field’s dimensions are: 310 feet in left field, 402 feet in center field, and 340 feet in right field. The field’s playing surface is natural grass. The Wolff also has 14 luxury suites, a 500 person picnic area down the right field line and the fiesta deck that can accommodate groups 25-200. The fiesta deck can be rented and comes with all you can eat and drink. Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium is named after a former Texas legislator and San Antonio councilman, Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff. The stadium features a concourse that wraps around the playing field and a 16’ x 22’ LED video screen. In maintaining the southwestern theme, from the outside of the stadium looking towards home plate are two large bell towers. In 2006 the San Antonio Missions took over the operations of the stadium. The Missions then made improvements to the ballpark. The improvements included improved concession areas, improved sound system, a new paint job, an LED scoreboard in right field to replace the old scoreboard, and creating the fiesta deck in left field. Part of the improvements was new lighting financed by the City of San Antonio. Part of the lease agreement states that the Missions will occupy the stadium for the next ten years with three options of five years each.
