The stadium opened in 1960 in the same year that construction started with initial construction costs of just under a million dollars ($940,000). The stadium has undergone about $30 million in renovations as well. The facility is located in Tacoma, Washington and the ballpark's field features a natural grass playing surface. The stadium has 16 luxury suites and the facility's current seating capacity is 7,429 people. The ballpark was renovated in 2009 to modernize the grandstand's structure as well as add a restaurant and new concessions. The facility features a permanent lighting system in order to accommodate night games and a press box located above and behind home plate.
