CenturyLink Center is home to Creighton University's NCAA basketball team, the Bluejays and the University of Nebraska in Omaha's hockey team, the Mavericks. The stadium opened in 2003 after 2 years of construction with initial construction costs of $291 million. The stadium features a multi-surface playing field and has a seating capacity of 17,100 for hockey, 18,320 for basketball, and over 18,000 for concerts. It can seat close to 19,000 when the concert is configured center stage. The stadium was expanded in 2006 and hosted the Olympic Swimming trials for the US Olympics in 2008. The stadium added a new scoreboard in 2013. The CenturyLink Center was originally named the Qwest Center Omaha until its naming rights were purchased by CenturyLink in 2011. In addition to basketball and hockey the stadium also holds popular music concerts and wrestling tournaments.
