Barclays Center is home to the NBA's basketball team, the Brooklyn Nets. It will also soon be the home to the NHL's hockey team, the New York Islanders who will be leaving Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The stadium opened in 2012 after over two years of construction with initial construction costs of $1 billion. The stadium is located in Brooklyn, New York and has a current seating capacity of 17,732 for basketball games, 15,813 for hockey games, and up to 19,000 for music concerts. The facility features a multipurpose playing surface in order to accommodate a variety of events. The facility features a very large HD Video Scoreboard held above the center of the ring. The facility does not have any specific parking available.

Barclays Center got its naming rights in 2007 from a banking group in London. The first NBA basketball game was a preseason game in October 2012. It has hosted conferences such as the Atlantic 10 Conference, WWE competition, the 2013 NBA Draft, and the 2013 MTV video music awards. The Islanders of the NHL announced that the team will be moving to Barclays center in 2015 after their lease with Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum expires.
