    The Appalachian Power Park is home to the Minor League Baseball team that is affiliated with the MLB's Pittsburgh Pirates and is part of the South Atlantic League, the West Virginia Power. The stadium is also home to Marshall University, The University of Charleston, and West Virginia University's NCAA baseball teams, the Thundering Herd, Golden Eagles, and Mountaineers. The stadium opened in 2005 after just over a year of construction with initial construction costs of about $25 million. The stadium is located in Charleston, West Virginia and has a current seating capacity of up to 4,500 people. The ballpark's field uses a natural grass playing surface for the field. There is a permanent lighting system installed in order to accommodate night games and there are restrooms and concessions available on site for guests to use.
