Is it the worst arena in all of sports? Probably. But it IS Long Island's only professional stadium and for that it deserves a few stars. Even though the Islanders are leaving us at the end of the current season, it has served us well. The Coliseum was the alternative for high paying tax payers to stay local rather than go to NYC or the Bronx, or Brooklyn, or Jersey to see pro sports events.
I recently attended the Isles-Penguins game. In my lifetime I have probably been here hundreds of times. Islander games, wrestling matches, the circus, and concerts. Truth be told, there is not a bad seat in the house. Even if you are on the upper level screwing in light bulbs, you still have a great view. That's the pro side of things. The cons are the prices. The prices for memorabilia and food are all outrageous and you get nailed with excessive parking fees. It will be interesting to see what happens to this place once the Isles leave. Great history, but the move to the Barclays Center is probably the best alternative.
