Midwest League All-Star Classic at Fifth Third Ballpark: Tuesday

COMSTOCK PARK, MI – The final touches to Fifth Third Ballpark are made today in preparation for Tuesday’s 50th Midwest League All-Star Classic.

Crews finishes spray painting the all-star logo on the field, and the final concrete work for the walk way leading to the concourse on the right-field side has been poured.

If you’re heading out to the ballpark Tuesday, here are the key times to know:

2:30- 2:45 p.m. - East team infield practice

2:50-3:40 p.m. - East team batting practice

4 p.m. - Gates open

4-4:50 p.m. – West batting practice

4:55-5:10 p.m. West infield practice

5:15-5:45 p.m. – On-field autograph session with both teams

5:45-7:15 p.m. – Willie Horton to sign autographs on the concourse

6 p.m. – “Lost art of bunting” competition involving representatives from each team.

Here is the remaining sequence of events, without a time listed by the Whitecaps:

• Whitecaps co-owners Denny Baxter and Lew Chamberlin make a presentation to out-going Midwest League President George Spelius

• Incoming Midwest League President Dick Nussbaum speaks

• Teams introduced along the foul lines

• First pitches (from Mike Marion from Amway and Tigers great Willie Horton)

• National Anthem (to be sung by 9-year-old Nikina Baker from Eaton Rapids)

• Game
